TEHRAN – Iran on Tuesday successfully conducted flight test of a domestically-developed transit aircraft, the country’s defense minister announced. Brigadier General Muhammadreza Ashtiani made the announcement, addressing a gathering of Defense Ministry officials also attended by Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Major General Muhammad Bagheri. He said the Simorgh aircraft is a re-designed and developed version of the aircraft of its generation, which is fully suited to the needs of the national and military organizations. The minister said experts at the defense ministry and knowledge-based companies developed the aircraft in accordance with the country’s weather conditions and international standards.
